They are not based on any personal opinion. The only judgement call made was to leave out ChatGPT and CharacterAI because they are too censored to be considered NSFW.

DreamGF AI is a newer chatbot app that focuses on convenience and ease of use.
The characters on the site are more realistic looking and less cartoony than many other AI girlfriend apps. If you like a more polished CGI style, you’ll like these girls. In addition to the stock images, you also get free image generation if you sign up for a free trial. A voice option is available to Premium members.
The chatbots have a nice customization feature that lets you feed background information to the bot. You tell the bot what you want her to know about you and she stores it in her long term memory for future conversations.
Overall the site offers a very curated feel. It’s great for ease of use, but the conversations aren’t as open as many other chatbot apps. Visiting the site’s tag page reveals that custom tags have been discontinued “due to multiple term violations by some of our users.”

Candy AI is one of the fastest growing adult chatbots. It’s popular because it’s easy to use and has all the major features. It has voice, image generation, and custom character creation. Most of these features require a Premium subscription that costs $12.99 per month.
There is a good variety of pre-made characters to choose from. You can choose women, men, anime, or realistic styles. There are also 9 different female voices to choose from. Many of the voices are kind of abrasive but any voice options at all are nice to have.
Every character starts with 2 initial pics. You can request 3 more by registering for a free account. Beyond that you need to be a premium member. The image quality is good. The character faces remain remarkably consistent from image to image. There were some occasional issues with body proportions but they weren’t weird enough to break the experience.
CrushOn AI

Crushon AI is a chatbot that focuses on anime characters and roleplay. The site has a tab dedicated exclusively to nsfw characters. All of them are sortable by tags like trending, new, and editors choice.
The strong focus on anime and roleplay results in more playful characters than most other chatbot platforms. A look at the trending tab reveals unique scenarios like dominant teacher, toxic boyfriend, and girls in an elevator.
There’s also a category for famous video game characters from titles like Genshin Impact.
The character creation feature is very open ended in Crushon AI. There is less guidance when creating your chatbot. It’s up to you to add an image and build the character from the ground up using text prompts. This means there’s less hand holding but also more freedom. The actual conversations are good. The characters are consistent and there’s lots of contextual narration to supplement the dialogue. Descriptive narration like “she blushes” or “she tries to hide her arrousal” is plentiful.

JanitorAI is one of the OG chatbots for sex roleplay. It’s long standing position as a top platform has given it time to build a giant database of characters. There are over 230,000 at the time of this article. As you can imagine, these characters can get super niche. Super specific tags like, “enemies to lovers” and “royalty” are not hard to find.
JanitorAI allows you to customize a lot of settings. Even after you choose a character to chat with, you can still alter the language model you use. GPT 4 is the most common but you can also choose Kobold or JanitorLLM Beta.
One of the best features involves chat memory. You can store elements of your previous conversations in the character’s long term memory by providing a summary of your chat and clicking save. This feature is great for simulating a real relationship that evolves over time.
You have to use your own API key to chat on JanitorAI. This means you only get around 500 free messages and then you have to pay OpenAI for each additional message.
